Pots and Pans



Pots and pans are cookware utlised in the kitchen. Pots ad pans are nowadays made from metal as some forms are excellent material for conducting heat to allow cooking to take place. Another reason for the use of metals is that they do not disintegrate in any way and provide a steady environment for cooking to take place. Furthermore, the elements contained within the metal do not mix to change the natural taste of the food cooked within the vessel.

The popular metals used for pots and pans are amoung others copper, aluminium, iron and stainless steel. They possess excellent properties to enable cooking while meeting the criteria above.

Metals such as aluminium and stainless steel in comparison to copper and iron are new metals. They have only started to become popular for use as cookware in the last few decades.

The attraction of aluminium is that is lightweight and very shiny. It is pleasing to the eye and most importantly has excellent heat conduction properties. Stainless steel  is an alloy metal that consist of numerous metals with iron the highest constituent.

Pots and Pans come in all manner of shapes and sizes. In the kitchen, these are one of the most important items to allow cooking to take place. Widely available and because of the importance, nearly all homes own these items.

Drinking Cups, Mugs and Glasses

The kitchen is usually the place where people store their accessories for eating and drinking. Since the cooking takes place in the kitchen, it is a convenient place to store these items. It means these items are easily accessible.

For the purpose of drinking we use cups or glasses. Hot beverages such as tea or coffee is drunk in cups and mugs while cold drinks like Water, Cola or alcohol is consumed through glasses.

When it comes to cups, they have a handle to protect the person from the hot liquid within the container. Neraly all cups and mugs are quite similar in terms of shape, the difference is the colours and the designs on the exterior of the container.

Glasses, on the other hand, do not have handles. They are transparent and one can see through it easily. Most glasses are similar in terms of shapes but there are specific glasses for drinking wine for example which look different from the usual glasses.

Cups, Mugs and Glasses are an important piece of item that enables us to consume drinks. And since for most of us, the appearence of the these items are important, there are available in numerous designs.

Kitchen Worktops


In a kitchen, as part of the furniture, you would find worktops. Worktops also provide practicality in terms of storage facilities to locate items such as food processors, jars and even small appliances such as a mini fridge. It also provides a surface to carry out food preparation.

Many people want their kitchens looking nice so they items within it have certain colour schemes, of particular designs and made from materials to suit taste and budgets.

Kitchen worktops are usually made of the following materials:

Wood 

Taditionally wood is the most popular materials for kitchen worktops. As there are a whole host of different types of wood available, you can get so many different designs and styles. The negative aspect is that to produce it, trees have be chopped down which one can argue is not friendly to the environment.

Metals such as Stainless Steel

Not as popular as wood but still an option to use as worktops. It is something you would find more often in commercial kitchens then the home. Easy to clean and leaves the kitchen looking shiny and bright.

Stones such as Granite

There are number of stones kitchen works are made from and include  marble. Perhaps not the cheapest option but it is bound to look good, giving the kitchen a modern appearence.

Whatever the worktop is made from, it is a very important element to the kitchen and as a result every kitchen comprise of worktops.

Cutlery

Cutley is common used as a means of eating food in the places such as the USA and Europe. In other parts of the globe such as China and eastern Asia, copsticks are used as a means to eat food.
In the USA, cutlery is refered to as flatware while in UK, cutlery is the poplar term. Cutlery normally consist of a knife, fork and spoon.

With spoons there are different types such as ones for eating desert and others as sugar spoons (you wold use it to add sugar to tea or coffee).

In most homes, the cutlery found is made of stainless steel. This is a realtively inexpensive metal so it a popular choice for many homeowners. There are more expensive variety available too in the form of silver, these are used mainly in noble households. Other people own these types of cutlery too but only put it to use on special occassions.

Cutlery is also sometimes refered to as silverware, nearly all cutlery, no matter what it is made from have a silver appearence. The only exception is plastic cutlery. These are inexpensive throwaway items that are used for outdoor events such as camping or in restraunts providing take away facilities.

Things Found In The Kitchen


So what are the things found in the kitchen? Every kitchen varies as to what it contains. There are, however, some common things that all kitchen contains. Examples include:

Cooker. An obvious requirement to carry out cooking. The type of cookers found works through gas or electricity power. The cooker also has various attachments such as a grill and an oven along with the all important stoves used to heat pans.

Fridge. We need a fridge to cool food for preservation. The type of fridge again varies from one home to another. Most have a standard fridge that is suitable for 2 kids and 2 adults. For people with a high budget may consider using things like side by side fridges which are large and expensive to buy. Many home have more then one fridge to meet all their needs. For people living on their own, with limited requirement for storage, a mini fridge is fine.

Microwave. This quite common nowadays. It was not the case 20 or so years ago as it was then an expensive item to buy. It helps to heat food quickly, there is no need to spend hours in the kitchen slaving away over the stove.

Worktops. These are as well acting as the furniture, operate as a table to store food, other accessories as well as to carry out the cooking procedure. Some people have an eat in kitchen where the food is eaten in the kitchen itself as oppose to the dining room.

Cupboards to keep food and items used for cooking.

Sinks. An absolute requirement to wash up food and utensils after cooking.

In addition, there are other things too. Items used to cook and eat the food are stored in the kitchen. You would find things like plates, pans, cutlery all kept in the kitchen, either on the worktops or the cupboards.

As kitchens play an important role in our existence, every home has a kitchen. The only difference is the contents and the size of the kitchen itself.
